I don’t post a lot of external articles, but this one really caught my attention. It’s a fascinating explanation of how art became entertainment, which became distractions, and how those are becoming an addiction. And it’s not by accident.
Very much worth the read (about 8 minutes)
The State of the Culture, 2024 was an interesting read. Yes, there are quite a few sad zombies walking around in traffic. However, the movie industry-and studios that create tv shows-would fare better if they just gave the public what they want. Family movies/shows without smut and a wholesome message typically draw large audiences, but it’s downplayed. 🙂

Many thanks. The article you referenced put a lot of thoughts and impressions together for me.

I cannot pretend to be a patron of the arts, but I am a patron of biblical thinking. Biblical thinking requires that we not be addicted to anything. Addiction to alcohol or tobacco or drugs is recognized as harmful by our society (although still a huge problem) but the addiction cited in the article is more recent and more pernicious. I need to ween myself and so do many in the church. We who are older recognize the cultural shift but it’s what the young have grown up with. Prayer is needed.
